Shore Hill

Shore Hill Apartments, Bay Ridge, NY:  This 400,000 sq.ft. housing complex for seniors, was built in 1977 and is now owned and managed by the Jonathan Rose Companies. The building comprises two 14-story towers linked by a one-story community center. Offering dramatic views of New York Harbor, the brick and concrete towers serve 55 units for low-income tenants supported by HUD Section 8 funding.

We renovated the interior common spaces, including corridors, lobbies, and the community room. Engaging with residents and management, our renovations brightened and freshened these common spaces. Special attention was paid to the use of environmentally sensitive materials, including bamboo wall and ceiling panels, recycled-content bases and ceiling tiles, and no-VOC paints and adhesives. Extensive art and plantings further enliven the building for its residents.
