Tudor Apartment Building

Tudor Apartment Building

Along a critical stretch of this charming downtown suburban Main Street, this new building will transition between the older, commercial buildings closer to the Tuckahoe train station and the newer residential buildings. A curving, sloping site poses further challenges. The building, cloaked in familiar Tudor details, gracefully negotiates this delicate urban transition. A rounded turret element becomes a landmark visible from a distance at an important bend in Main Street, with the graduated facade height gently transitioning from a nondescript 1930's apartment building on the hilltop down to the lower-rise new developments set down the hill. The project integrates the first significant new retail spaces in the downtown district, with ample storefronts and a signature space in the turret's base. The building houses 23 comfortably laid-out rental units, mostly one-and-two-bedrooms.
